On the theme of Africa (see last post)… I realised I havent done a book review in a long time and that this is one I have been meaning to cover. (no pun intended.)

Africa is a huge continent, and this book does an excellent job of giving the reader an overview of many different textile making traditions. It is organized into regional sections (north, southern, east, west and central Africa) which go into further depth about specific groups of people and their fabrics. “Fabrics” includes everything from weaving and dying cottons and wools to beading, cut pile embroidery and beadwork.

I have about a thousand bookmarks in this book and every time I open it I learn something new. Highly reccomended.
