Here’s the finished illustration. (I forgot to post the picture earlier. Oops.)

The friends who just got married are both very involved in our local food and sustainability movement. They wanted a wedding certificate for their Quaker-inspired ceremony that would reflect who they are. After their vows, all of the guests would be invited to sign the certificate as a symbol of their support.

They asked me to include their favorite farm tools and local flora. There are blueberries, elderflowers, nasturtiums, sweet potato vines, butterbean vines and chanterelle mushrooms. There are also a few bluebirds- a nod to the flock that lives in the trees around the urban farm where they live.

I used ink for the line drawings and acrylics as watercolors for the color.
